Rush man jumps out of window, is critically hurt

A Rush Township man was in critical condition after diving through a two-story window in Tamaqua on New Year's Eve.

Police were dispatched to the unit block of Hunter Street at 12:30 a.m. where they found Daniel Keach, 20, of Lincoln Drive, unconscious on the sidewalk. Keach's brother, Steven, was shaking him, trying to get him awake.As Tamaqua Community Ambulance personnel tended to Daniel, preparing to transport him to the Tamaqua Area Senior High School for medical helicopter evacuation, officers spoke with witnesses trying to determine how Keach ended up on the sidewalk.According to witness reports, the Keach brothers were on the sidewalk in front of 81 Hunter St., loudly arguing. Kimberly Snyder, who resides in a second floor apartment in the building, had gone outside to yell at the men. When she did, Daniel darted inside the apartment building, ran up the stairs to the second floor, entered her apartment and then dove, headfirst, out of the window.Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.
