Crashes probed

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 12:19 p.m. on Oct. 30 along Smith Hill Road, in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Michael D. Nicholas, 26, of Brodheadsville, was driving a 2004 Pontiac Aztec eastbound when the vehicle went off the road and got stuck on top of a pile of mud. Nicholas was not injured. The vehicle was towed from the scene at the driver's request, troopers said.

A two vehicle crash was reported about 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 31 along SR209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Joan Agostini, 45, of Tobyhanna, slowed down for traffic to make a left turn off 209 into a parking lot when his 2004 Mazda MPV was struck in the rear by a 2008 Mitsubishi Lance driven by Kolbi E. Giaquinto, 18, of Stroudsburg.

Giaquinto and passenger Alayna Tavarez, 17, of Stroudsburg, and Agostini and her passenger, Jose Ortiz, 44, of Bethlehem, were all not injured.

The Mitsubishi had to be towed from the scene. Troopers cited Giaquinto for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.

Troopers investigated a crash about 7:37 a.m. on Nov. 2 along SR715 in Jackson Township. Troopers said Brandon A. Debellis, 31, of Effort, was traveling northbound in a 1995 Volkswagen GTI when Edward T. Palma, 54, of Cresco, operating a 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, pulled out from a driveway into the path of Debellis and a collision occurred.

No one was reported injured. The GTI had to be towed from the scene.

Troopers cited Palma for vehicle entering or crossing a highway.

A two vehicle crash occurred about 3:43 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, along SR209 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Donald D. Merwin, 47, of Effort, driving a 2003 Chrysler PT Crusier slowed and then stopped in a line of traffic when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2001 Dodge Durango driven by Wendy L. Smith, 38, of Weissport.

Upon impact the Crusier was pushed forward into a fence located on the Your Way real estate company property and then a sign for the business.

The Crusier had to be towed from the scene.

Smith, her passengers Sue A. Muthard, 44, Pamela Hoffman, 37, and Randy Z. Smith, 19, all of Weissport, were not injured. Merwin was injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.

Troopers said Smith was cited for following too closely.
