Tamaqua police have cited Thomas A. Wenger Sr., 27, of 671 Pine Hill Road in Andreas after a vehicle stop in the borough on Nov. 2.

A police officer on patrol saw a dark Chevrolet sedan being operated in an erratic manner on Cedar Street at 1:28 a.m. The Chevrolet turned off Cedar Street to Center Street at a high rate of speed, without using a turn signal. Once on Center Street, Route 309, the vehicle crossed the double lines several times, then crossed the white lines at the edge of the road as it exited the borough, almost striking a guide rail.The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver, Wenger, who was given and failed multiple field sobriety tests. Wenger was then transported to a Pottsville hospital for blood tests.He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and summary traffic offenses.
