Event canceledDue to weather conditions, the Donut Nite festivities that were planned to be held tomorrow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, have been canceled.Water authorityThe Summit Hill Water Authority will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. John Michalik, president, will be in charge.Recreation commissionThe Summit Hill Recreation Commission will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Among the matters to be discussed are the annual Memorial Day weekend Stay-at-Home celebration at Ginder Park.Borough meetingThe Summit Hill Borough Council has scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall, when matters relative to the use of the borough's newly-constructed recreation center will be discussed.In addition to council representatives, officials from the borough's Recreation Commission, the Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization and Diligence Fire Co. No. 1 will participate.The intent of the council is to eventually adopt a policy establishing rules for use of the facility, which is located adjacent to the new fire hall.Food distributionThe Summit Hill Food Pantry conducts a monthly distribution of food boxes to the needy in the community. Anyone in need of the assistance, or knowing of individuals or families who do, is asked to contact Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604, or Sandra Hill, 645-4617.The pantry, a non-denominational entity, is always in need of donations and manual assistance. To donate items or your time, contact the above persons as well.The Summit Hill Lions Club has taken on the task of assisting the pantry with its distributions as a service project. Boxes are usually packed on a Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m., and are distributed on the fourth Tuesday, starting at 9 a.m.League to meetThe joint Summit Hill and Nesquehoning Little League programs will hold their first meeting of the season on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Nesquehoning Borough Building. Major announcements concerning the league/season are expected to be announced. It is highly recommended that all members and parents attend this meeting.
