Dear Editor:

On Sunday, July 18th, my son's backpack was stolen off our friends' front porch steps. This happened in the 500 block of Schuylkill Ave. in Tamaqua.I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is because my son is a type 1 diabetic and his insulin pump was in that bag because he had just come back from the pool! My three children and a few of their friends as well as my husband and I started a frantic search for the bag when we realized it was missing.We found his beach towel thrown along Rt. 309 north outside of town, but not the bag or his pump. It's very possible that whoever has it doesn't even realize that it is a vital piece of medical equipment.If anyone has any information about this please contact us or the Tamaqua police department. We aren't looking to press charges, just to get the pump back!
