The Carbon County Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans’ Court, Judy F. Moon, has announced the following activity for 2015:

Acting as an agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue, for the collection of inheritance taxes, the register accepted 498 payments amounting to $2,979,999.32. The commission on that amount totaled $32,900.07, which was transferred to the Carbon County General Fund.

More than 8,000 entries were entered in the Carbon County Recorder of Deeds office in 2015, according to an annual statistical report released by Emmett P. McCall, the current officeholder.

As a result of the department’s activities last year, the recorder collected and remitted $3,640,316.74 in revenues.

Revenue from deeds

Carbon County Recorder of Deeds Emmett P. McCall reported his office recorded 250 deeds, 181 mortgages and 336 other writs during the month of December.

As a result of those transactions, McCall turned over to the Carbon County General Fund the sum of $28,903.18. A breakdown of that revenue includes: transfer fees, $22,820; data processing fees, $1,888.02; notaries, $30; commission on transfers and writs, $3,073.76; and Affordable Housing administrative fee, $727.80.
