A maintenance worker found a frozen 4-foot-long alligator in a creek in Penn Forest Township. It appeared the dead animal was trying to crawl out of the cold creek which feeds into the Penn Forest Reservoir. The alligator died half in and half out of the water.

Scratch marks on the creek banks indicated the reptile had been living in the area for some time. The reservoir, which is now covered by ice, is part of a 23,000-acre watershed owned by the Bethlehem Water Authority.
