They made it 'official'

Josh and Tanya (Lilly) Rivera, Summit Hill

I first met Josh at my church, Hope Community Fellowship in Weissport, during our annual Vacation Bible School. We quickly became an inseparable duo. Everyone bugged us about being an "official" couple. On Sept. 9, 2010 we hiked to the top of Glen Onoko Falls where he had a picnic basket and blanket already set up. He walked me over to the edge of the falls; when I looked down I saw the word OFFICIAL was spelled out in white rocks at the bottom. All our friends thought that was over the top … until he proposed. On Oct. 22, 2011 I woke up sick. I called off of work and decided I was going to stay in sweats all day. My mother drug me from bed and forced me to get a shower claiming, "It will make you feel better." So I begrudgingly obeyed and got up. Once my hair was no longer dripping, she handed me a white envelope from Joshua. The letter explained that I was about to go on a journey reliving our relationship. My first clue was to go to the place we first met: our church. There his brother-in-law and sister were waiting with another envelope. This letter described our first meeting: his thoughts about me at first sight and our genuine love of being together. This sent me on an expedition through our relationship firsts. I revisited our first ice-cream (the Boulevard); our first date (Mahoning Valley Cinema); where I met his friends (RiverWalck); where he sang karaoke (Palmerton Hotel); our first kiss (his home); and finally the place he made it "official" (Glen Onoko). At each spot my closest friends and family handed me the envelope. In the letters Josh wrote about our growing love and blossoming relationship through the past year. Then I got stuck in Jim Thorpe's fall foliage for over an hour. When I finally pulled up to the parking area, my best friend, Kaitlin handed me an envelope and hugged me.For my last adventure I had to follow the white rocks to uncover the next step in our relationship. The rocks led around the bottom of the falls to a small cove where I had never been before. There on a boulder were white rocks arranged in a heart with one last letter. As I was reading the letter, Joshua walked down from the hill, got down on one knee, and asked me if I would marry him. He opened up a small black box with the most beautiful ring inside. With tears of joy I hugged him and choked out, "Yes!" Hand-in-hand we walked back to my car. We met everyone for celebratory hugs and congratulations back at our church.
