Tamaqua review board OKs 3 projects

Members of the Tamaqua Historical and Architectural Review board met Monday and granted "certificates of appropriateness" to three residents. The ventures must also be approved by Tamaqua Council.

Joe Berezwick, 253 W. Rowe St., requested to enclose an existing rear porch, which is visible from Lafayette Street. The porch is currently three-sided, and Berezwick will enclose it by adding an exterior wall.Sandra Dunstan, 330 Arlington St., applied to build a detached, 24-by-30 garage at the rear of her property, which would be visible from Mountain Avenue. Dunstan owns the lots which adjoin her on each side of 330 Arlington St. The board approved the garage design but said Dunstan must also seek approval from the zoning officer.John Hutta, 422 Hazle St., sought to remove a 3-foot-high concrete retaining wall at 420 Hazle St., which he also owns. He would also replace the sidewalks and install a ground-level entrance, matching the ground-level entrance he previously installed at 422.HARC's September meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Tamaqua Borough building.
