Thanksgiving dinners

• Verona’s Pizza and the Lehighton Fire Company are hosting the seventh annual free community Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lehighton Rec Center, South Eighth Street, Lehighton.

• The Tamaqua Salvation Army will host a free Thanksgiving Day dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday. Meals will also be delivered to shut-ins who register at least one week in advance by calling 570-668-0410.

• St. John’s United Church of Christ at 15 S. Second St. in Slatington is offering a free Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday. All are welcome. Reservations are appreciated, but not required. Dinners will be delivered to “shut-ins” in the Northern Lehigh area, but calls for delivery must be received by Monday.

The office is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Wednesday.

• The American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert is hosting a free community traditional Thanksgiving dinner, with all the trimmings, on Thanksgiving Day, for those in need, serving from noon to 4 p.m.

• Effort UMC will be holding its 14th annual free community Thanksgiving dinner at 2 p.m. Thursday. For information, call the church at 570-629-1890.

• Living Hope Lighthouse Church in Palmerton is hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
