Tamaqua district court

All but one defendant, scheduled for preliminary hearings before District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer of Feb. 19, elected to waive their cases directly to the Schuylkill County Court. The odd man out was Joseph B. Frantz

, 31, of Mary D, who didn’t show up for his hearing.

Frantz was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest by Rush Township patrolman Michael Weaver after a Jan. 4 incident.

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Cases waived to court included:

Irene Elizabeth Attiyeh

, 30, of Coaldale, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, making terroristic threats and harassment by Coaldale patrolman James Bonner. The charges were filed after a Jan. 25 domestic incident in which Attiyeh is accused of using a knife.

All of the charges were held for court.

She was returned to the Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post the imposed $50,000 bail.

Tammy L. Fisher

, 44, of Coaldale, faces charges of simple assault, child endangerment and harassment, filed by Coaldale officer Todd Weiss, in a Feb. 13 case.

She was released on her own recognizance.

Francheska Lamanna

, 24, of McAdoo, was charged with simple assault, harassment and institutional vandalism. The charges were filed by McAdoo patrolman Anthony DiVirgilio in connection with a Jan. 28 case.

She was returned to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $10,000 percentage bail.

John Bryan Roman

, 28, of Reading, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and corruption of minors. The charges were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Karl Harig in relation to a Sept. 14, 2018, case.

Roman was returned to the Berks County Prison, where he is awaiting trial on burglary related charges filed by Reading City Police.

Lester W. Dietrich

, 47, of Tamaqua, faces charges of criminal trespass and making repairs/selling an offensive weapon. The charges were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Michael Weaver after a Jan. 16 break-in.

He was returned to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $5,000 percentage bail.

Ashley Lynn Miller

, 31, of Tuscarora, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to use a seat belt. The charges were filed by Rush Township patrolman Brandon McGinnis after a Dec. 5, 2018, incident.

She was released on her own recognizance.
