A home invasion incident and an assault, is being investigated in Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a residence along Rolling Hills Drive in Tobyhanna, for a report of a home invasion that involved armed assailants and a gunshot wound.

On scene officers found the victim had sustained a head injury and was treated at the scene and later transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono, East Stroudsburg. There was no gunshot involved, it was determined.

Police said the investigation revealed that two men forced entry into the home and assaulted the victim.

The investigation also revealed that the assault appears to be in retaliation from an earlier assault, which occurred at a school bus stop in the area.

During the earlier assault, a 12-year-old was assaulted by an adult.
