Nesquehoning Historical Society hosts session about Real ID

The Nesquehoning Historical Society will host a Real ID information session for those interested in learning about the requirements on Monday.

From 6 to 8 p.m., members of the historical society and a representative from state Sen. John Yudichak’s office will host a representative from the Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicles for an informational session about this new license. The meeting will take place at the society museum at 157 W. Railroad St. in Nesquehoning.

U.S. residents who fly domestically, enter a military base or federal facility that requires ID at the door will need a Real ID starting Oct. 1, 2020. This type of ID will not be required to drive, vote, access hospitals, visit the U.S. Post Office, access federal courts or apply for or receive federal benefits.

The group will help residents understand the documentation that is needed to obtain this type of ID. No Real IDs will be issued at this event, but anyone with concerns about if the documentation they have will meet the requirements to obtain a Real ID should bring them to the session.

Light refreshments will be served at the event. All are invited.
