Nesquehoning Historical Society announces events

The Nesquehoning Historical Society will be hosting a combination work day and open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. All community members are invited to attend.

Visitors will have the opportunity to browse through the museum collection and to ask questions about the displays. For those who have a desire to join in with the behind-the-scenes work of the society, light maintenance jobs will also be available. Snacks and beverages will be provided to all guests and workers.

The mission of the Nesquehoning Historical Society is to preserve and share the memories of all those who have called Nesquehoning their home. The society hosts regular monthly meetings and special events and lectures. The society is financed through annual membership dues, special gifts, rummage sales and grants.

The regular monthly meeting of the society will be held at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The agenda of this month’s meeting will be focused on business questions and event planning for the new year.

The Nesquehoning Historical Society is located in the former Nesquehoning Baptist Church at 157 W. Railroad St. in Nesquehoning. Parking is available in the lot directly adjacent to the building.

Annual dues for members are $10.

For those would like to support the work of the society but are unable to attend meetings, donations and membership dues may be mailed by check or money order to the Nesquehoning Historical Society at 157 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240.
