McAdoo traffic stops

McAdoo Police released information on three recent traffic stops in the borough.

• Gino Rivera, 26, of McAdoo, was stopped for speeding on Kennedy Drive at 12:27 a.m. Dec. 30. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on Rivera, as well as uncoordinated movements. He was given field sobriety tests, but refused to have blood tests. He was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.

• Michael Confer, 29, of Tamaqua was stopped at 8:32 p.m. on Monday for blinding an officer on patrol by failing to dim his high beams. As the officer tried to speak to him, Confer began yelling, then threw a cigarette butt on to the roadway. He refused to provide any identification, until he was told his vehicle would be towed. He then provided his name and birth date. A records check showed his driver’s license was suspended. He was cited for driving without a license, scattering rubbish and failure to dim high beams to oncoming traffic, and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
