Two defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas on Monday before Judge Joseph J. Matika in Carbon County court.

, 32, of Tresckow, pleaded to one count of simple assault.

She was arrested on Aug. 13, 2017, by state police at Hazleton for an incident along Oak Street in Banks Township where she assaulted a female in a dispute involving a boyfriend. In a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office, two counts of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment were dropped along with other charges.

Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

, 38, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of criminal mischief, a misdemeanor 3. In exchange for the plea charges of strangulation, a felony 3, and two counts of simple assault were dropped. Assistant District Attorney Joseph D. Perilli said the agreement was made because the victim did not want to prosecute any of the pending charges.

Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he render 50 hours of community service and obtain both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
