The Lehighton Education and Athletic Foundation (LEAF) President Tim Tkach, teacher Christine Haupt, and LEAF treasurer Michael Everett present a check at the Lehighton Area Elementary Center. LEAF recently gave teachers at Lehighton Elementary a $350 grant to bring back Reading Olympic teams. The money will be used to purchase books and to put together two teams for the Reading Olympics. The request was made through LEAF’s website by Kristen Rehrig. LEAF is and independent, charitable organization that has been privately established to cooperate with the Lehighton Area School District in supporting educational programs and extracurricular activities that are outside of the School District’s operational budget.
