A Saylorsburg man has waived charges to Monroe County Court after an incident with his 13-year-old son on Aug. 24 at the West End Fair in Gilbert.

State police Trooper Richard Balderrama reported that Daniel Morris IV, 48, was trying to force his son to leave the fair when he grabbed the boy’s arm and wrist and aggressively pulled him.

The boy told police he heard a pop and felt sharp pain in his wrist while trying to pull away. He said Morris released him and left the area after bystanders began approaching.

A Lehigh Valley Health Network paramedic treated the boy at the fair, placing his left wrist in a splint and believing it was fractured because of an obvious deformity. Police later learned the wrist was broken.

Several volunteer firefighters who witnessed the incident told police they saw a large man violently pulling the juvenile’s arm while the boy screamed and tried to break free.

They said the man let go and fled when they moved in to help. Morris is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He is free on $50,000 unsecured bail after waiving his case to county court.
