A Nesquehoning woman has been charged with stealing jewelry from her mother.

Nesquehoning police said Nicole Irene Canzoneri, 38, of 101 W. Diaz Ave., has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property. She is also facing drug charges as a result of a search of her residence related to her arrest on the theft charges.Borough police served a felony arrest warrant on Canzoneri on Thursday. A consent search was made of the residence and found was drug and drug paraphernalia including one spoon with resin, 10 baggies of heroin and pills.Canzoneri was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford and committed to the county prison after failing to post $3,000 straight cash bail. The investigation of the theft began on Oct. 23 when Chief Sean Smith received a call from the suspect's mother in reference to her Jeep being entered while parked at her home and jewelry being removed. The victim told Smith she was keeping the jewelry in her Jeep because she noticed, over the past few months, jewelry and money missing from her home.Taken from the Jeep were various pieces of jewelry with an estimated value of $5,000.The victim said she lived at the residence with her two daughters. Smith said there was no forced entry to the Jeep and that the victim said she kept one set of keys with her but a second set was missing from the residence.Canzoneri was questioned about the incidents but denied any knowledge of the thefts. On Oct. 24 Smith checked the Northeast Precious Metals database and discovered that Canzoneri was at the Time Will Tell Pawn Shop in Lehighton on Oct. 24 and sold a 14 karat gold ring with pink stones, which matched one of the items stolen.Through the course of the investigation Smith learned that Canzoneri had been at the Lehighton business on other occasions selling jewelry.Video surveillance showed her selling the items and the business owner produced sales slips with her signature on them. This information led to the arrest warrant, which was served on the defendant.Officer Timothy Wuttkeassisted in the investigation.
