When Arayah Schisler, 11, arrived at Tamaqua’s National Night Out, she headed straight to see some four-legged friends.

Schisler, along with other youngsters, were delighted to feed the goats, bunnies and pony on hand for the annual event. Sunset Boarding Stables, based in Schuylkill County, provided free cups filled with the greens favored by the small animals.

Held from the Tamaqua Area High School parking lot, the community celebration brought together young and old.

A Touch-A-Truck with local emergency responders’ vehicles was held, and attendees could chat with Tamaqua police officers while they enjoyed free hot dogs and popcorn.

More than a dozen community organizations were on hand, too, many of them offering free trinkets, games, crafts and more.

Tamaqua Mayor Dave Clemson was pleased to see the community come together to provide an evening of safe and free fun.
