Father, son killed at Great Wolf Lodge

A Towanda woman who police said killed her husband and 3-year-old son has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after police were called to the Great Wolf Lodge, Scotrun, on Tuesday.

Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, was arraigned on homicide charges before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge of Bartonsville.

Pocono Township police Sgt. Earl Ackerman and Detective Michael Scicutella filed the charges.

According to the affidavit, police were called to the lodge about 3:13 p.m. for a suicidal female who was later identified as Harrison.

Police said upon arrival Harrison told them she was unable to find a vein in her neck to stab herself. Police also observed bleeding cuts of the left wrist and superficial punctures on her neck.

Harrison then told them she wanted to be with her husband, Charles, and 3-year-old son and was trying to kill herself.

Police then entered the hotel room and found the man and boy on mattresses in the room. They were identified as Harrison’s husband, Charles, and her son, who was not identified in the affidavit. The husband suffered from multiple stab wounds and the boy had a single stab wound, police said.

Harrison was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg, by personnel from the St. Luke’s Ambulance service and treated for her injuries.

During the transport, the affidavit states Harrison kept talking about the incident and said that she was frustrated because her blood kept clotting even after taking blood thinners.

She also said that she had hoped to be the best mother and wife for her family and worked hard daily.

An investigation inside the hotel room led to police finding two knives, as well as bottles of medication throughout the room.

The family had checked into the room on Sept. 21 and extended their stay on Oct. 5. The checkout day was scheduled for Tuesday.

Video surveillance of the hallways showed the family entering and existing the room several times Sunday evening.

Harrison is currently incarcerated in the Monroe County Prison after bail was denied. A preliminary hearing before Kresge is scheduled for Oct. 21.
