A state Department of Education career and technical education adviser spoke to students and visited a cooking lab at Panther Valley Junior-Senior High School last week.
Teresa Brownlee accepted an invitation from the school’s Family and Consumer Sciences Program, participating in a cooking lab with students and serving as a guest speaker for the high school’s Child Development course.
The cooking lab was part of the Foundations of Family Consumer Sciences, an elective that provides an overview of the school’s FCS program.
Brownlee also met with teachers, administrators and students involved in the Family and Consumer Sciences Club.
“We were very honored to have Ms. Brownlee visit us,” said Julian Costa, who teaches FCS at Panther Valley. “She has been very encouraging as we have built this new program, and it was nice to have her meet our students and see our FCS lab.”
Brownlee works in Harrisburg with quality assurance and program standards for career and technical education programs.
Before joining the Department of Education, Brownlee taught family and consumer sciences in DuBois, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
