Lansford man charged with assault, burglary, threats

A Lansford man faces multiple charges after he was reportedly out of control and kicking in the doors of several residences Monday afternoon.

Shawn Major, 41, was arraigned by District Judge Eric Schantz on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment, disorderly and public drunkenness.

He was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning in lieu of $75,000 bail.

According to court paperwork, Major entered a home and grabbed an elderly man sitting on a couch and started shaking the man before leaving the house and running off.

A witness followed Major down the block and saw him kick in a door in the 200 block of East Abbott Street.

Another man was working at that address, when Major, wearing no shirt, entered the property, court paper said. He confronted Major and told him to get out. The man described Major as “tweaked out,” arrest papers said.

Major then ran west on East Abbott Street, where a woman saw him opening the front door at another home. The resident at that address told police that Major was inside and did not have permission to be there.

Police had permission to check the property and found Major leaving through the front door, carrying two duffel bags of clothing, court papers said. The resident confirmed the bags and clothes belonged to him, not Major.

Major was taken into custody without incident and taken to the borough police station for processing.

Summit Hill police assisted Lansford police during the incident.
