‘Feed a Family Days’ set in Tamaqua
Volunteers from the Tamaqua Community Hunger Campaign will be at Tamaqua Heritage Day in downtown Tamaqua Sunday to promote several ways residents can help provide food for area families during the campaign’s 15th annual October effort.
Volunteers will answer questions about the campaign, promote “Feed a Family Days” at Boyer’s Market and take orders for the campaign’s Great Tamaqua Soup Sale.
“Feed a Family Days” will be held Tuesday and Oct. 18 at Boyer’s Market in Tamaqua. Shoppers can purchase a $10 donation bag containing more than $10 worth of groceries and immediately donate the bag to hunger campaign volunteers outside the store.
Shoppers may also purchase individual food items to donate or make a cash contribution to the campaign.
The food collected benefits four Tamaqua area food pantries and a baby food ministry, and helps provide food to hundreds of local families each month.
The soup sale continues through Oct. 25. Thirteen varieties of soup are being offered, with proceeds benefiting the campaign. Orders can be placed Sunday at the campaign table or through the campaign website by searching “Tamaqua Hunger Campaign.”
Soup pickup will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 31 at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, Pine Street, Tamaqua.
The campaign is a project of the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network, a nonprofit organization of lay members of area churches operating under the umbrella of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
