Caring DAM Hearts celebrated its 10th anniversary while showcasing a new community gathering space during its annual Fill-A-Bag fundraiser and indoor flea market.
The nonprofit recently hosted the event in its new Caring Hearts Community Room and Event Center, located alongside the organization’s Caring Hearts Clothing Closet at 241 Lehigh Gap St., Walnutport. The fundraiser had previously been held for the past two years at the South Mall.
The Fill-A-Bag sale allowed shoppers to fill a bag with as much clothing as they could fit for a set price, while the indoor flea market featured a variety of affordable items. Proceeds from both events support the organization’s mission of serving the community.
“Our grand opening of our flea market and fill-a-bag was just wonderful,” CEO Denise Martinez said. “It goes hand in hand to get this up and running for the community.”
Martinez said the event drew strong support from area residents, with people lined up before doors opened.
“There was a line at the door for the start,” she said.
The organization offered more than 1,000 pieces of clothing during the event. Unsold items will be made available through the clothing closet, where those in need can obtain clothing free of charge.
“What does not sell, will go to the other side, where everything is free,” Martinez said. “There was a lot of love in our rooms today. I have such amazing support from all my volunteers.”
The new Caring Hearts Community Room and Event Center is now available to rent for gatherings of up to 50 people. The space can accommodate bridal and baby showers, anniversary celebrations, celebrations of life, business meetings and organizational gatherings.
The venue features high ceilings decorated with market lights, vintage lamps, hutches and bookcases designed to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Renters also have access to a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, microwave and Keurig coffee maker, as well as a collection of china, serving pieces, beverage dispensers and other event supplies.
The facility is handicap accessible.
Caring DAM Hearts also is seeking volunteers and offers opportunities for those completing community service or court-mandated service hours.

Officials said the organization aims to provide affordable options for residents facing economic challenges while continuing its community outreach efforts.
