Marian Catholic High School has a partnership with Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools, allowing qualifying businesses and individuals to explore participation in Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit and related tax credit scholarship programs.

“Pennsylvania’s tax credit scholarship programs represent one of the most powerful opportunities available to individuals and businesses who want to invest in Catholic education,” said Dr. Erin Marek, director of advancement at Marian. “Instead of simply paying their Pennsylvania tax liability, qualifying participants may have the opportunity to direct a significant portion of those dollars toward scholarships that directly benefit students. We would welcome the opportunity to talk with anyone interested in learning more.”

Marian Catholic works closely with BLOCS development managers Amy Impellizzeri and Bridget Chomko, who recently visited Marian to partner with the school’s Advancement Team to expand awareness of Pennsylvania’s tax credit scholarship opportunities and connect Marian with businesses and individuals interested in supporting students.

Under Pennsylvania’s EITC program, eligible businesses making qualifying contributions to scholarship organizations can receive a state tax credit equal to 75% of their contribution, which can increase to 90% when the business commits to contributing the same amount for two consecutive tax years. Individuals may also be able to participate through special-purpose entities administered by organizations such as BLOCS, depending upon their individual tax circumstances.

For Marian, tax credit scholarship support is important because it allows the school to provide financial assistance to families that otherwise might not be able to afford a Catholic education.
