At a Sept. 9 county commissioners meeting, commissioners approved a $3,500 change order to a contract with M&J Excavation, Luzerne County, for a stormwater management project in McAdoo. The increase will raise the contract cost to $130,820. The increase was needed for additional depth restoration and paving.

Also at that meeting, one of four evening meetings held during the year, county Finance Director Glenn Geissinger said that a $714,230 budget appropriation for the county’s 911 Communications department was the first half of a $1,428,460 grant to modernize its equipment.

The grant is part of a $5 million Local Share Account disbursement to the county through the state Department of Community and Economic Development.
