LOCAL DISTRICT 18 LL ROUNDUP: Results from June 20-21

Franklin Township and Tamaqua both remained alive in the winner’s bracket of the District 18 9-10 Little League tournament with wins over the weekend.

9-10 MINORS B-BALL

Saturday’s Games

Franklin-Anthracite

Franklin Township opened its district tournament play with a dominating 32-0 victory over Anthracite.

Mav Kegerise had two hits, one a triple, and knocked in five runs. He also crossed home four times.

Nolan Kotch collected three hits, three runs and three RBIs for the winners, who posted 18 runs in the second inning.

Nash Cuyler added a pair of hits, four runs, and knocked in a pair as every player in the lineup reached base and scored.

Kegerise and Brody Dronick combined on a three-inning no-hitter and recorded all nine outs via the strikeout.

Thorpe-Towamensing

Jim Thorpe scored in every inning, including seven runs in the third, to cruise to a 16-1 victory over Towamensing.

Eli Knopf and Jalen Calcano both had two hits and three RBIs for the winners, who also received a pair of hits and three runs from Kaiden Calcano and Jacob McElmoyle.

Liam Kattner added a hit and two RBIs, while Ben Swanson and Colton Chapman each contributed a hit and two runs.

Patrick Burdyn pitched three hitless innings, striking out seven, for the win.

For Towamensing, Bo Knepper had a hit and an RBI, while Jaxson Jacoby had a hit and a run.

Sunday’s Games

Jim Thorpe-Tamaqua

After being held scoreless for four innings, Tamaqua plated five runs in the fifth inning to claim a 5-3 win over Jim Thorpe.

Hunter Hill delivered a two-run hit for Tamaqua in the fifth, while George Pinkey, Max Field and Rocco Biasi also drove in a run during the inning.

Pinkey finished with two hits, while Braxton Barrett tossed four innings for the win.

JT’s Patrick Burdyn and Chris Hollenbach both delivered a hit and an RBI.

T’mensing-Anthracite

Lukas Robertson had three hits, two of them doubles, as Towamensing stayed alive with a 12-2 victory over Anthracite.

Robertson scored twice and added an RBI.

Bo Knepper also had a big game offensively, finishing with two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Logan Smale added a two-run homer in the third for the winners, who led 3-2 after two innings before pulling away over the final two frames. Jaxson Jacoby chipped in with a hit, two runs and an RBI.

Robertson also earned the pitching win, allowing just one hit and three walks while striking out seven.

For Anthracite, Miguel Sanchez had a triple and a run.

Saturday’s Games

Weatherly-Carbon

Weatherly jumped out to lead and held it to gain a 7-2 victory over Carbon.

Cassidy Witner paced the winners with two hits and three RBIs. Rylee Minnick earned the pitching win, allowing just three hits and no earned runs wile striking out six. She also helped her own cause with a hit and two RBIs.

Isabella Durham added a hit and three runs, and Jenna Jones contributed a double and two runs.

For Carbon, Lianna Olavarria collected a pair of hits.

Saturday’s Games

Weatherly-PM East

Weatherly exploded for 16 runs in both the first and second innings to cruise to a 32-0 victory over Pocono Mountain East.

Reya Gregory led the way offensively for the winners, collecting three hits — one a homer — and seven RBIs.

Faith Feaster also thrived at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, while Korah Gilbert finished with a pair of hits, three runs and knocked in one. Mia Durham chipped in with a hit, four runs and two RBIs.

Gregory also earned the win, allowing no hits while striking out six.

Weatherly-Carbon

Zoei Costenbader hit a homer and knocked in five runs to help Carbon post a 14-10 victory over Weatherly.

Brooklyn Demyanovich added a pair of hits and knocked in a run. She also struck out nine in gaining the pitching win.

Willow Conway contributed a hit and three runs, while Ava Geist finished with a hit, two runs and an RBI.

For Weatherly, Hailey O’Donnell registered three hits and three RBIs. Mia Durham added three hits and knocked in two. Korah Gilbert, Faith Feaster and Natalee Ritter all ended with a pair of hits and two runs.

Saturday’s Games

Palmerton-Lehigh Wh.

Lehigh White plated six runs in the third inning to take control and went on to a 17-2 win over Palmerton.

With the game tied 1-1, Collin Guerlin roped a three-run double as part of their six-run outburst. Lehigh White followed with a seven-run fifth.

Lehigh White’s Chase Rieger stole four of the team’s 12 bases.

Brady Ivancich and Brody Mertz each knocked in a run for Palmerton.

Lehigh White made it a short evening with an eight-run third inning, and posted a 15-0 win over Northern Valley.

Myles Hendrickson had four RBIs and Dallas Cruz added three for Lehigh White.

Ben Storch had both Northern Valley hits.

Nolehi-S. Parkland

South Parkland took control of the game in the middle innings, and moved on to a 17-5 victory over Northern Lehigh.

In the third, South Parkland pushed across four runs, and collected five in the fifth to take a 13-5 lead.

Lucas Derricks went 4-for-4 with three RBIs for South Parkland.

Anthony Kabrick went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Northern Lehigh.
