Weatherly celebrates National Night Out

Numerous community organizations participated in the Weatherly Police Department’s National Night Out on Tuesday evening.

The department welcomed residents to meet the borough’s police officers, view emergency vehicles and learn more about the department and other emergency providers serving the community.

There were games and activities for the kids, including a bounce house, face painting and games, and Smokey Bear also greeted children.

The Weatherly Museum’s mini train engine was on display as well as numerous other exhibitions and giveaways.

Refreshments included hot dogs, chips, pizza, cookies, strawberry shortcake and beverages.

Lincoln Mengle was the winner of the backpack filled with school supplies.

The Weatherly Police Department thanked the following agencies and businesses for being part of the event: Paul’s Auto Center, Citizens Fire Co. No. 1 of Weatherly, the Weatherly American Legion Post 360 and Auxiliary Unit 360; the Pennsylvania State Police, the Carbon County Sheriff’s Department and District Attorney’s Office.

Also participating and thanked were the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, state Fish and Boat Commission Bureau of Law Enforcement, Lehigh and Lausanne Rural Volunteer Fire Co., Carbon County Fire District 19, West Hazleton Fire Department, Lehigh Valley Medic 11 and Lehigh Valley Hospital MedEvac helicopter, Carbon County Communications Center and David Feaster Excavating LLC.
