Carly Green, 15, a standout young vocalist from Tamaqua and a sophomore at Marian Catholic High School, has been selected to perform the National Anthem to open the ARCA Menards Series Race at Pocono Raceway on at 3 p.m. Friday.
The performance marks a major milestone in Carly’s rapidly rising singing career. Earlier this year, she won the “Oh Say Can You Sing” contest to open the Pennsylvania Farm Show, a victory that launched a series of high profile anthem performances across the commonwealth, including multiple PIAA State Championship Games.
Despite her growing list of accomplishments, Carly says that being invited to perform at Pocono Raceway is her greatest honor yet.
“This is the biggest moment of my singing journey so far,” Carly said. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to represent my community on such a huge stage.”
The performance also carries deep personal meaning for Carly. Her late grandfather, Richard Green, a devoted NASCAR fan, passed away when she was young. Carly says Friday’s anthem is dedicated to him and his love of racing.
In addition to her Pocono appearance, Carly will continue a busy summer performance schedule. She is slated to sing at the Schuylkill United Way’s 9th Annual Football Challenge on June 16, followed by Tamaqua’s 4th of July Celebration at Liberty Tree Park.
