Nesquehoning native Tony Kinn, an amateur baseball umpire legend in his own time, was selected for induction into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
The 65-year-old Harrisburg resident, who has umpired more than 3,000 games over a 48-year span, has been singled out to be the first inductee of the hall’s new West Shore Chapter based in New Cumberland.
Kinn is a former area coal miner, having worked for 14 years in the mines in and around Nesquehoning before heading to Harrisburg, where he worked for the Department of Transportation for 27 years before retiring. He is a 1935 graduate of Nesquehoning High School.
