Local Roundup: Results from March 27
The Lehighton, Tamaqua and Northwestern baseball teams all remained undefeated after wins on Thursday.
The Indians crushed Pen Argyl, the Raiders edged Pine Grove, and the Tigers walked off Southern Lehigh.
Palmerton also registered a baseball win, rallying past Bangor, while Marian shut out Weatherly.
Panther Valley and Northwestern added softball victories, and the Pleasant Valley girls lacrosse team rolled past Liberty.
BASEBALL
Pen Argyl-Lehighton
John Light’s three-hit, five RBI day helped spark Lehighton to a 16-1 Colonial League rout of Pen Argyl.
Light opened the Indians’ scoring in the first inning with a run-scoring double. The Tribe’s catcher followed with an RBI single with his second at-bat in the first. Lehighton’s No. 2 hitter in its lineup then added a two-run double in the second frame.
Aiden Solt chipped in with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI, while Cody Snyder connected for a single, triple and two RBIs.

So. Lehigh-Northwestern
In a back-and-forth Colonial League contest, Northwestern came out on top with a hard-fought 10-9 walk-off win over Southern Lehigh.
With the Tigers trailing 9-8 entering the home seventh, Jake Carson knotted the score with an RBI single to left. Later in the inning, Cole Dynda scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
Carson finished with two singles, a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Dynda added three singles, three runs scored and an RBI.
Watson Church reached base in all five plate appearances, recording three singles, a double, a run, two RBIs and a walk.

Tamaqua-Pine Grove
Mason Ligenza had a dominant mound effort, fanning 16 batters and allowing just one hit and two walks in Tamaqua’s 4-0 Schuylkill League shutout over Pine Grove.
Ligenza went 6.2 innings before Noah Mateyak recorded the final out with a strikeout to keep the Blue Raiders undefeated.
Landon Kamant knocked in two runs, Cooper Ansbach notched two hits, and Luke Kane stole two bases for Tamaqua. The Blue Raiders were patient at the plate with 11 walks, and they also stole four bases.

After Northern Lehigh took an early lead, Wilson used a seven-run second inning to pull away for a 10-5 Colonial League win.
The Bulldogs’ Braedon Dougherty had a good day at the plate, finishing with a single, double, and three RBIs. Teammate Parker Shaffer reached base three times with two singles and a walk.
Dyran Nobles paced the Warriors with two singles, two runs and two RBIs, while Liam Coyle added a single, triple and four RBIs for the winners.

Bangor-Palmerton
Alex Keiper’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Palmerton to an improbable 9-8 Colonial League comeback victory over visiting Bangor.
Trailing 8-2 in the bottom of the sixth, the Blue Bombers staged a late rally to pull out the victory.
The winners plated six runs in the sixth to tie the score, and Mason Becker crossed home with the game-winning run on Keiper’s hit.
Cameron Pengelly belted a solo home run in the first inning for Palmerton. Pengelly also adde a double in the third.
Brady Reph (two singles, RBI) and G. Ahner (two singles, two walks) chipped in with multiple hits, while AJ Borger finished with a single, a run scored and three RBIs.

Salisbury-Jim Thorpe
After Jim Thorpe rallied late, Salisbury pushed across a run in extra innings to earn a 7-6 Colonial League victory.
After trailing 4-0, the Olympians took the lead with five runs in the home sixth. Kaden Hess had a fielder’s choice RBI, while Zack Murphy added a three-run double. Nikolas Schwartz’s fielder’s choice RBI put Thorpe ahead.
Brody Schrantz got the start for the Olympians, walking three and striking out 10 in five innings of work.
Josh Louck (two singles, two runs scored), Noah Pastor (two singles, one RBI) and Cole Lazorick (two singles) all had multiple hits for the Olympians.

Jimmy Cannon had a two-run single for the Colts, while Rocco Griguoli also connected for a two-run hit.
Wade Eroh and Jon Derr both recorded RBI singles, while Alex Diaz added a fielder’s choice RBI.
Cannon paced the Colts with three singles, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Griguoli contributed three runs and four RBIs on a single and a double.
Trent Higgins and Bradlee Connors accounted for the Wreckers’ only hits.

Panther Valley gave unbeaten Tri-Valley all it could handle, but the Bulldogs earned a hard-fought 3-1 road win.
Owen Miller struck out nine and allowed just an unearned run in five innings for the winners. Brady Jones pitched well in defeat, giving up two earned runs and fanning five in six innings.
Brody Breiner paced the Panthers with a three-hit performance, finishing with two singles, a double and a run.

Jenna Prudente collected four hits and hurled five innings to lead Panther Valley to its first victory in a 20-8 trouncing of Mahanoy Area in Schuylkill League action.
Prudente went 4-for-5 and had three RBIs, and she also picked up the victory. Mia and Morgan O’Brien, along with Kyla McQuillen, each had two hits for the Panthers.
Ella Connolly led Mahanoy with two hits and two RBIs.

Gloria Strohl belted a three-run homer and Mara Levins smacked a two-run shot, but it wasn’t enough as Jim Thorpe dropped an 18-12 Colonial League slugfest to Salisbury.
Strohl, Julianna Frantz, Hannah Zacharias and Ryah Confer all had two hits for the Olympians, who rallied from an 11-0 deficit after three innings.
Gianna Olds, Tessa Kemmerer nd Zaira Stokes each had two hits and four RBIs for Salisbury.

Wilson jumped out to an early lead, and the Warriors went on to a 10-3 victory over winless Northern Lehigh in Colonial League play.
Posting four runs in the first inning, Wilson padded its lead to 7-2 after two frames.
Emma Dalpe had two hits and three RBIs, and Anna Schmitt added two hits for Wilson.
Emily Gad went 2-for-4 and stole two bases for the Bulldogs. Addison Smith went the distance and recorded 10 strikeouts for the Bulldogs.

Jamie Dinger struck out 14 and allowed one of Tamaqua’s two hits over five-plus innings to help undefeated Pine Grove post a 7-0 shutout in a Schuylkill League matchup.
Dinger went 5.2 innings before Chelcy Clark issued one hit over the final 1.1 innings. Hannah Aungst, Callee Leffler and Madison Shiffer each had two hits for the Cardinals.
Kolbe Robb and Nico Conahan accounted for the two Blue Raider hits.

Abby Dunstan roped a three-run homer and drove in four runs, and Natalie Conner slapped a two-run shot to lead Northwestern to a 10-4 Colonial League victory over previously unbeaten Southern Lehigh.
Emma Freeman scattered six hits and struck out 10 in a complete game victory for the Tigers. Freeman also had three hits and two RBIs.
Northwestern took the lead in the third when Freeman had an RBI single and Dunstan launched her homer. The Tigers added four runs in the fourth behind Conner’s three-run shot.
Demi Lewis had three hits for Southern Lehigh.

Grace Weaver drove in five runs on three hits for the Green Knights, and Bradley helped her cause with two hits and three RBIs.
Makenna Snyder and Sophia Wise had the lone hits for Lehighton.
