Carbon processing ballot requests

Carbon County officials are asking for patience from voters going to the county election office for election-related business.

On Thursday, Commissioner Wayne Nothstein said that there has been some complaints about processing applications for absentee ballots taking some time.

“They’re extremely busy,” he said, noting that a lot of absentee and mail-in ballots have already been returned and are being processed.

He noted that sometimes waits are up to an hour-and-a-half due to the process. The last day to register for an absentee or mail-in ballot is Tuesday.

In addition, he reminded voters that ballots should be filled out with a black marker.

“If a marker is not given, ask for one. If they are not offered, ask for one,” Nothstein said. “We want to do this right. We can’t afford any mistakes in this election so take some responsibility as well.”
