N. Lehigh names new assistant principal
A Stroudsburg Area School District administrator has been named to fill an administrative position in the Northern Lehigh School District.
The school board on Monday unanimously appointed Daniel Williams as secondary assistant principal, at a salary of $95,000, effective upon release from his current district.
Superintendent Dr. Matthew J. Link introduced Williams and welcomed him to the district.
Williams thanked the district for the opportunity, and noted all the great things he’s heard that are happening in the community.
“I’m really excited about being able to join your educational community here,” Williams said. “I’m looking forward to it.”
Williams, of Palmerton, said he was a biology/chemistry teacher in the Lehighton Area School District for 16 years from 2007 to 2023. He was also a wrestling coach at Lehighton from 2010 to 2016.
Currently, he is assistant principal at Stroudsburg Junior High School, a position he began in July 2023.
“I really enjoyed my time there, but I saw this as an opportunity to come to a great school district and be in an area that’s very close to where I live, and so I feel like I can become part of this community,” he said. “I look forward to working with everybody here.”
Board President Mathias Green welcomed Williams.
“We look forward to you coming and helping us out at the high school (and the middle school),” Green said. “You’ve got some big shoes to fill.”
After the meeting, Williams said, “I believe being so close to Northern Lehigh will provide me with a great opportunity to become an integral part of Northern Lehigh’s educational community.
“My primary goal as I begin in my position with Northern Lehigh School District is to get to know the staff, the students and the entire community. My goal at Northern Lehigh will be the same as my goals in the other districts that I have worked in, which is to do everything I can to support our students, support our staff and provide the best educational opportunities possible for our students so that they have an opportunity to be successful and have a positive impact on their community.”
Williams will succeed former secondary assistant principal Michael Strohl.
Last month, the board accepted Strohl’s resignation, effective Oct. 28.
Strohl was hired as principal at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute’s Academic Center.
