The Hometown Fire Company plans to purchase a brand-new truck, but it needs help.
Hometown Fire Department Chief Barry Messerschmidt briefly discussed the matter with the Rush Township board of supervisors on Thursday.Messerschmidt told the board that the fire company recently sold a 1996 freightliner, and plans to purchase a new 2016 truck from KME in Nesquehoning.The new truck is expected to cost about $335,000, Messerschmidt said."I give Rush Township 15 years if we still have a fire company," Messerschmidt said. "The day of volunteers is just about done."Messerschmidt then thanked the board for its support of the fire company.Board Chairman Shawn Gilbert said that supervisors plan to sit down and look things over with them.
