Nesquehoning man jailed in dispute

A Nesquehoning man was arrested early last week after police received a call about an active domestic dispute in progress.

According to Nesquehoning police, at 6:53 p.m., on Feb. 8, officer Timothy Wuttke was dispatched to the 200 block of Yard Street after reports of a physical altercation. While on his way, he was advised the man had fled the scene.Upon arrival, Wuttke spoke with a woman who had called police. She said that her ex-boyfriend, identified as Scott Mullen, 49, moved out approximately two weeks ago but was at the home to see his children, ages 2 and 18 months, when an argument started over Mullen's daughter wanting to see the kids. The woman said the argument escalated and Mullen began throwing objects and spitting in her face.During the argument, the victim's phone rang and Mullen became enraged, asking to see the phone, but she refused.Mullen then lunged at the woman and ripped the phone from her hands, knocking her onto the children, who were present at the time.Wuttke observed that the kitchen was in disarray and items were thrown on the floor and the kitchen table and chairs were knocked out of place. The woman told police that she was terrified of Mullen and that he had threatened to kill her and burn her house down. She also told police that she believed Mullen's ex-wife picked him up and provided a description of the vehicle.Nesquehoning police notified Jim Thorpe police of the description, and they began to look for Mullen. After a short search, Mullen was located in the vehicle and taken into custody. He was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, who set bail at $25,000, 10 percent. He was then taken to the Carbon County Correctional Facility.
