Chestnuthill questioned over zoning concern

A resident questioned Chestnuthill Township about his neighbor’s property Tuesday night.

As soon as the floor opened for public comment, resident Jason Carr, who has lived on Woodstock Drive for the past 14 years, took the floor with several complaints about his neighbor and the township’s zoning office.

Some time ago he had come to the township building to speak with the zoning officer about his neighbor, who had several violations on his property, but he said the zoning officer never called back or came out to address the violations.

Carr said he recently called Matthew Neeb, Chestnuthill Township’s planning/zoning director, and again did not receive a call back.

“I don’t know why it is so difficult to call back a citizen, a taxpayer who pays the zoning officer’s salary. I hope the township takes the residents’ concerns seriously,” he said.

Carr said he spends most of his time in Wolfsburg, where he has investments, but now he promises to attend the supervisors meetings on a regular basis.

“It is in clear violation of what your ordinance states, and it is not a quality of life that I want to be subjected to, so what do we do?” he asked.

Vice Chairman Eric Snyder said he wasn’t familiar with the site, and that he would check with the zoning officer.

“He is usually very good about getting back to people. I would advise to check again tomorrow,” Snyder said.

Carr asked him to drive to his property and “Take a look across and see if you want to live across from that.”

Carr plans to call the zoning officer again.

Parks and Rec

Bernie Kozen Executive Director reported the summer concerts are finished, and he said they reached out to a good part of the community, and some of the concerts and events were very well received.

“The biggest event this month will be the trick or treat which we will be partnering with the fire company once again and having a drive-thru event. We thought it would be best just to do a drive-thru again,” Kozen said. The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Storm cleanup

The original cost of the proposal and package with Possinger repair on the Evergreen Hollow bridge came down in price due to the township sending out crews going to fix the damage done by Henri and to prepare for Ida.

“They had to go out and shore things up so that we didn’t lose the entire road area by the bridge and Possinger revised their scope of work based on what the road crew did that they could continue with that work for a more permanent fix, cleanup from storm damage for $21,953,” said David Albright, the township’s manager.

On the township engineer Chris McDermott’s advice, the motion was passed to approve the new proposal from Possinger for the $21,953, and not to exceed that amount.

Meeting schedule

The Oct. 19 meeting will be canceled due a work session. The Nov. 2 meeting will be canceled for Election Day.

The Nov. 16 meeting will be held.
