Tamaqua Area School District has recognized several of its top-notch elementary students for a job well done.

In all, four students were recognized as Students of the Month at the onset of the school board's committee meetings on Tuesday.Among those recognized were second-graders Nicholas DeHaven, West Penn Elementary School; Landen Tringone, Tamaqua Elementary School; Ivonne Apancho, West Penn Elementary School; and Jocelyn Navitsky, Tamaqua Elementary School.Other businessIn other action, the board:• Approved a letter of linkage between Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic, New Beginnings and the school district for the 2015-16 school year.• Approved participation in the Bloomsburg University Business Education Student Teaching Program for the 2015-16 school year.• Approved the first reading of a policy related to school district facility use procedure.• Appointed John Hurst, business administrator, Mahanoy Area School District, as Tamaqua School District's second alternate on the Act 32 Tax Collection Committee. The primary delegate will continue to be Connie Ligenza, and the first alternate will continue to be Larry Wittig.• Approved the request of Roseann Weinrich, senior class adviser, to hold the senior prom on May 7 at Capriotti's in McAdoo.• Announced that the school board will hold its annual reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1.
