Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday approved 15 three-year agreements with SimplexGrinnell, Allentown, for testing, inspections and maintenance for county facilities.

The total for the agreements is $54,822.On behalf of the grant writer's office, commissioners approved a $61,920 contract with Advanced Business Systems to lease 17 copiers for five years.Commissioners also issued three proclamations.One proclamation recognizes April as "Duck Month" in the county.The month is marked by the 28th annual Rubber Ducky Race on Mill Creek in St. Clair on Sunday.Festivities begin at noon, and the race starts at 3:32 p.m. The day will include live entertainment, food, music, children's activities, vendors and prizes.Traditionally, people have flocked to ante up some bread for the thousands of rubber ducks available for "adoption."Race tickets are $5.Proceeds from the race will benefit Avenues, which provides services and programs for people with developmental or acquired disabilities.For more information, call Avenues at 570-622-7920.Another proclamation recognizes April as "Donate Life Month" in the county.The third proclamation recognized the week of April 10-16 as "National Telecommunicator Week."
