Former Tamaqua Times News Bureau Chief and longtime actor and director George B. Miller died Tuesday.

A graduate of Tamaqua High School Class of 1961, Miller founded the Selkie Theatre in Allentown, with his wife Kate Scuffle. The “dual citizenship theater” produced in both Ireland and the United States.

Miller was known for performances throughout the Carbon-Schuylkill area. He was a founder and director of the Curtain Call Players, which traveled throughout the area giving performances.

He worked with many theater groups in the Lehigh Valley including Civic Little Theatre, The Theatre Outlet, Touchstone and more.

Touchstone posted on its Facebook page, “Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing or working with George remembers his twinkling-eyed smile, expansive heart, passion for arts as an avenue for change, and love for his community.”

“George worked cheerfully and tirelessly for his community and his craft.”
