For many, it can be quite the unsettling experience to take a trip into the great unknown.

Yet, that's exactly the type of risk visitors will take when they get up enough courage and bravado to walk through the Return of the Haunted House in Clamtown.Friday will mark the 25th opening of the Return of the Haunted House, located on First Street, just off Route 443, (Clamtown Road), in Clamtown.Courtesy of the Boy Scouts of Troop 755 of Clamtown, it will be open Friday and Saturday, as well as Oct. 30-Nov. 1.There is an $8 admission fee for adults, and $5 for children. The group accepts canned goods in return for $1 off admission. The canned goods go toward scouting for food, and will be donated to Trinity Lutheran Church in Tamaqua. This year, it has a school house theme, according to Dale Osenbach, scoutmaster of Troop 755."I think the building itself lends itself to the type of attraction that we have, being that it's an old one-room schoolhouse that's not renovated," Osenbach said.Osenbach said the scouts began working on the Haunted House the first weekend in September, and worked straight through every Tuesday night leading up to Friday."They're hard workers, the parents and the Scouts," he said. "It takes a lot of dedication to get done."Osenbach said there will be a full concession stand serving both hot and cold food and drinks.Sponsors include Berks Hot Dogs, Mrs. T's Pierogies, Embassy Bank, Giant Food Store, Iron Run Beverage, MTM Financial, Motion Industries, Trans Edge Truck Centers, and Weis Markets. The building had formerly been a one-room schoolhouse, as well as a church. For more information, like them on Facebook at Return of the Haunted House Troop 755.Osenbach said one customer in particular, Clark Ferguson, has been an avid supporter and attended each year.
