Lehighton woman faces drug charges
A Lehighton woman has been charged with possession and delivery of heroin and fentanyl.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer John Pruitte Jr of the Jim Thorpe Police Department in the case against Crystal Michael:
On Jan. 6, Pruitte along with members of the Carbon County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Jamestown Street in Lehighton.
Michael, 37, had been a subject of a several-week narcotics investigation.
A search of the residence yielded several items indicative of the distribution of heroin and fentanyl.
Located in Michael’s bedroom was a black “ammo box” containing two empty vials with a white powdery substance.
A third vial contained an estimated 0.5 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, along with scales and several baggies commonly used to package and distribute heroin/fentanyl.
A pink wallet was located on a shelf containing Michael’s Pennsylvania Identification, and inside the wallet was two bundles of suspected fentanyl along with $683.
Michael admitted to distributing heroin/fentanyl to support a drug habit.
Michael faces charges of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance; unlawful possession of a controlled substance; and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
In addition to Michael, a Slatington man has been charged with possession and distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl as part of the narcotics investigation.
Ronald Carnes III, 27, faces charges of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered, and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
Michael is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
