Slatington to install new security system

A new video security system is being installed at Slatington’s water treatment plant and the sewage treatment plant.

Borough manager Dan Stevens said the cost of the systems was covered in part with funds from the Coronavirus Relief Fund established by the CARES Act.

“We had some cameras, but this is much more extensive,” he said.

The new system required additional wiring, new cameras, recorders and laptop computers. It will also make it possible for the police department to easily monitor the treatment plants.

Stevens said the former security system will be installed at the maintenance building.

The borough purchased the new cameras and recorders at Nicholson Security in Slatington for about $6,700, he said. The cost of the laptop computers and additional hardware were extra.
