2021 reorganization: Ross Township keeps same leadership for 2021

Reorganization of township roles was the first item of business at Monday’s monthly Ross Township supervisors meeting.

The first meeting of 2021 was attended by some in the building and via phone conference for others due to the recent uptick in coronavirus cases.

Many roles stayed the same: Chairwoman Tina Drake; Vice Chairman David Shay; Supervisor James Zahoroiko; Secretary-Treasurer Danielle Romano; road foreman Ethan Brewer; solicitor Tim McManus; engineer Russ Kresge of Keystone Consulting Engineers; sewage enforcement officer Ryan Engler; sewer enforcement alternate Jonathan Shupp; zoning solicitor James Fareri and alternate is someone from his office; emergency management coordinator Brian Stankovich; earned income tax liaison is Berkheimer; and CPA auditor is Kirk Summa and Company.

Drake will remain the representative to the CJERP (Chestnuthill, Jackson, Eldred, Ross, Polk) regional group and Zahoroiko is the alternate.

Zahoroiko is the Pocono Mountain Council of Governments representative. Shay is the delegate to the Monroe County Task Committee.

Monthly meetings will remain the first Monday at 7 p.m. If a holiday occurs that day, the meeting will be held the following Monday.

Supervisors voted for a 3 percent pay raise for the road foreman and full-time operator.

They voted to increase the treasurer’s bond to $800,000.

The township will pay 56 cents per mile, which is the federal rate.

There were a few changes in assignment of township roles for 2021.

Randy Detrick replaced Frank Pirano on the vacancy board.

Michael Gaul of the firm King, Spry, Herman, Freund and Faul replaced Dan Lyons as the planning commission solicitor. Solicitor McManus’ firm, Cramer, Swetz, McManus and Jordan, will be the alternate.

Drake was named as the West End Park and Open Space Commission representative. Her predecessor, Judy Breidinger, recently moved out of the township. Zahoroiko is the alternate.

Mike Galler and Carl Biechy were named as new members of the zoning hearing board.

The UCC joint board role was tabled until the February supervisors meeting. This person needs to have architecture experience and familiarity with building codes. The supervisors said they needed more time to make the nomination.
