The November meeting of the Tamaqua Board of Health took place at the Tamaqua Municipal Building with Earl Boettger, Rosemarie Noftz, Shirley Becker and enforcement officer Matthew Myers in attendance.Myers is conducting the annual health inspections and reportedly completed 11 at the time of the meeting. Before the end of 2015, he has another 54 inspections to conduct. The inspections are required in order to receive an annual health inspection license.There were no cases of reportable diseases for the month.The board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. in the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Meetings are open to the public.Adult Day CareThe Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center will be celebrating Thanksgiving with a party on Tuesday.Other activities for this month include: Monday, baking day; Wednesday, Salvation Army service; Nov. 19, exercise with Jeanie; Nov. 23, visit with St. Jerome's kindergarten class; Nov. 25, manicure day.The center also offers exercise sessions, a variety of therapies and social games. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are served daily.Anyone interested in obtaining more information about the center or services provided may call 570-668-6577 or visit Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.Calvary UMThe Rev. Ed Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m.An hour of prayer and praise is held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.The annual harvest celebration and Thanksgiving service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 22. The public is welcome to share in the old-fashioned harvest home gathering, which will include harvest-style foods, fun, music and fellowship.St. John'sThe Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at this Sunday's 9:15 a.m. worship service in St. John's Lutheran Church. The service will be followed by a congregational meeting.Also on Sunday, the learning ministry will meet after the congregational meeting and the bell choir will rehearse after the learning ministry meeting.Next week's activities include: Thursday, property committee meets at 7 p.m., angel choir rehearses at 6 p.m., shepherd choir practice is at 6:30 p.m., chancel choir meets at 7:30 p.m.; Friday Messenger assembly begins at 9:30 a.m.St. Peter's UnionThis Sunday's 9 a.m. service in St. Peter's Union Church in Mantzville will be followed by the preschool basket raffle from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday school will be held at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, Cub Scouts will meet at 4 p.m.; Daisies, Brownies, Junior and Cadet Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.Next week's activities include: Monday, church board meets at 6 p.m.; Tuesday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., called to care committee meets at 6 p.m., Women of St. Peter's meet at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, apple dumpling pickup from noon to 5 p.m., cherub choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m., junior choir rehearses at 7 p.m., senior choir practices at 7:30 p.m.Contact Kathy Kunkel at 570-668-1250 or
