A Montgomery County man has been charged with threatening to kill a state trooper and his family following his arrest.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper Jonathan Housenick of the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop N, Fern Ridge barracks in the case against John Egan:
At 4:48 p.m. Sept. 26, Housenick was dispatched to Nash in Albrightsville for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Upon his arrival, Housenick spoke with a woman, who said her boyfriend, Egan, 43, became intoxicated and began smashing doors in her house.
The woman said she called 911 to report the incident, and Towamensing Security responded to the scene. Egan charged at the security guard and tackled him to the ground.
Egan then ran into the woods on foot away from the security guard.
Housenick then spoke with the security guard, who said that Egan was outside of the residence.
The security guard said that he gave Egan several commands to stay away from him. After a brief search Egan was located in the nearby woods, but ran from police.
After a brief foot pursuit, Egan was then taken into custody.
Egan was transported by troopers to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, and during the transport, he threatened to kill one of the troopers and his family.
Egan faces charges on two counts of harassment, and one count each of terroristic threats, simple assault, criminal mischief, flight to avoid apprehension, trial or punishment.
He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing today before Senior District Judge Edward M. Lewis of Jim Thorpe.
