Carbon County is finally receiving geodata from the state regarding exact locations of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and is keeping up with the need for personal protective equipment of first responders.
On Thursday, Commissioner Chris Lukasevich announced that the county 911 director began receiving the COVID-19 geodata this past Saturday.
The data, which includes the house address, municipality and ZIP code, has been input into the 911 dispatching system and officials have established a protocol to keep that information confidential, while still ensuring that first responders dispatched to that area have enough information to protect themselves from potential exposure.
This sensitive information will remain confidential and in the event of an emergency at the location with the known COVID-19 case, dispatchers will utilize paging apps for first responders so the information is not transmitted over the radio.
In addition, Lukasevich said that the county Emergency Management Agency is continuing to fulfill all PPE needs of first responders.
The agency has issued an additional 920 masks, 11 boxes of gloves, 90 gowns, 24 face shields, 24 Tyvek suits and 24 gallons of disinfectant this week.
“There has not been a need that we received that has not been fulfilled by emergency management personnel,” he said.
Emergency management staff are also canvassing the 10 long-term facilities in Carbon County to check their statuses with PPE and will continue doing so on a weekly basis until this pandemic ends.
