A Luzerne County woman is in jail for her role in a theft that occurred in Mahoning Township.

At 6:02 p.m. Feb. 27, township police were dispatched to a residence on Packerton Dam Drive for a theft.A man and a woman had knocked on the victim's door and told the victim they had a flat tire, at which time they asked to use her phone.The victim allowed them into the home. While the man was using the phone, the victim saw the woman, Bernadette Poznar, 36, of Hazle Township, going through her purse.The victim recovered cash from Poznar, and made her stay in the home until police arrived.Police found Poznar had an active warrant for her arrest in Schuylkill County.Poznar was placed in Carbon County Correctional Facility and has been charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, and receiving stolen property.A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 11.
