Franklin Township supervisors

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:

• Agreed to release the letter of credit for JDY Properties/Blue Mountain Machine.

• Adopted a resolution authorizing the filing of declaration of taking and acquisition of real estate necessary for the Red Hill Road culvert project.

• Accepted the resignation of zoning hearing board Chairman Kim Depue, who has served for over 30 years. The board then tabled the appointment of a new zoning hearing board member.

• Approved the Declaration of Disaster Emergency, the coronavirus (COVID-19), retroactive to March 18, and then ratified the Declaration of Disaster Emergency to remain in effect until May 30.

• Signed the cooperation agreement between Carbon County and Franklin Township for the 2019 CDBG program administration.

• Adopted an ordinance amending the nonuniformed pension plan administered by the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System.

• Approved the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System defined benefit plan adoption agreement.

• Adopted a resolution authorizing and implementing changes to the designated Police Pension Plan Officials for the Nationwide Pension Case.

• Announced that no applications were received for the part-time police officers.

• Approved having board Chairman Jason Frey sign and certify Wayne Redline’s NPDES permit renewal.

• Agreed to have Frey complete and sign the Census boundary line survey form.

• Announced that Frey swore in Tynesha Schaeffer as a member of the Franklin Township special fire police on Feb. 18 before the board’s meeting that evening.

• Announced that Frey attended the annual PEMA Elected Officials Seminar March 3 at the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency.

• Approved the request from sewage enforcement officer Scott Bieber to grant the isolation distance exemption for 74 Maple Ave.

• Proclaimed the month of April as Pennsylvania 811 Safe Digging Month.

• Agreed to purchase 87 Octane No Lead Gasoline at Frank’s Service Center in Franklin Township.

• Agreed to bid out various road material projects, with bids to be opened at the board’s May 19 meeting.
