Man arrested in child porn case

A Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County, man is the latest to face charges in the Monroe County District Attorney's ongoing initiative to apprehend predators who use the Internet to sexually exploit children.

Tad Hamilton, 32, of Hemlock Drive, was arrested following a Thursday afternoon search warrant on his home. Detectives from the Monroe County District Attorney's Office and the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department served that search warrant after discovering a computer at Hamilton's home had been sharing child pornography on an online file sharing network. At the home detectives located a computer containing evidence of child pornography and linking that evidence to Hamilton.Hamilton, who was not home at the time, was located at his place of employment with the help of the state police. When detectives spoke with Hamilton, he admitted to having downloaded child pornography approximately 10 times. Detectives said this isn't true, reporting that the evidence shows that Hamilton downloaded upward of 139 files that are likely to be child pornography. The full extent of Hamilton's activities won't be known until a forensic examination of his computer is completed. That could take several weeks, detectives said.Hamilton was arraigned by District Judge JoLana Krawitz of Stroudsburg and placed in the county prison in Snydersville on $50,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for June 24 at 10 a.m. in front of District Judge Anthony Fluegel of Tobyhanna.
